In a crucial 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday afternoon, the Royal Challengers Bangalore outplayed the Rajasthan Royals, limiting them to 28/5 in a 172-run chase in Jaipur. It was a surprising collapse from the Royals' batting order as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson all left the game after reaching two runs.
As he was removed on 10, Joe Root, who had been sitting in the dugout for the previous two games, failed to contribute either. Even after the Powerplay, RR was still having trouble as Dhruv Jurel, who had previously played significant innings for the team, was removed on 1 just four deliveries later.
Shimron Hetmyer and Ravichandran Ashwin's combination gave the RR hope, but Anuj Rawat's mastery at the wickets ensured the game ended quickly. Both the batter and Hetmyer were surprised by Rawat's sensational run out of Ashwin, which led to RR being bowled out for 59.

Rajasthan Royals recorded the third-lowest total in IPL history
Choosing to bat, RCB posted a respectable 171 for five thanks to half-centuries from captain Faf du Plessis (55 off 44) and Glenn Maxwell (54 off 33). The foundation for the total was laid by a 69-run partnership between Du Plessis and Maxwell for the second wicket. Their bowlers, under the direction of Wayne Parnell (3/10), then put on a brilliant performance to dismiss Rajasthan Royals for a pitiful 59 in 10.3 overs. Karn Sharma (2/19) and Michael Bracewell (2/16) both claimed two wickets.
The RCB moved up to fifth place in the points standings with a positive Net Run Rate (0.166) thanks to their massive 112-run victory over the Royals. While the Royals have dropped to sixth place, they still have a positive NRR, albeit one that is lower than RCB (0.140). Sanju Samson's team has played one more game than the Royal Challengers, making things more difficult for the team as it strives for a playoff spot.
The day's second game will see Chennai Super Kings try their hands on a chance at direct qualification as they host the Kolkata Knight Riders.
