Brisbane Heat clashed with Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League on January 7, 2023. It was the 33rd match of the ongoing tournament that took place in Perth. Brisbane Heat looked to improve their position in the points table by winning this clash and they were successful to do it as they won the match by 7 wickets. While the home side tried to strengthen their grip in the top two positions.

Meanwhile, Scorchers’ batter Cameron Bancroft produced a brilliant catch during the match which caught everyone’s attention. In the 18th over of the first innings, Jimmy Peirson walked across the sticks and whipped the ball away but found the man at deep backward square. Bancroft sped to the side, dove, and collected it low to the ground. He came up with a pool-like dive to his right. He lobbed the ball up in celebration as he ran in.

Perth Scorchers comprehensively won the match against Brisbane Heat

Talking about the match, Scorchers opted to bowl first after winning the toss. But the bowlers were not able to provide any breakthrough during the powerplay as Heat’s openers Colin Munro and Josh Brown stitched a beautiful 81-run stand for the first wicket. Later, the Heat ended up with only 171 on the scoreboard even after the brilliant start by the openers.

The last three overs went only for 18 runs. Brisbane started on a very quick note but soon lost their plot. They lost a few wickets quite quickly. For Scorchers, Andrew Tye picked up three wickets and conceded 37 runs in his 4 overs quota. Matthew Kelly as well as Lance Morris chipped in with a few wickets as well for Perth.

In response, Stephan Eskinazi and Cameron Bancroft came out to open the innings. Eskinazi scored only one run off two balls. But, Bancroft showed his class and played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 76* runs off 48 balls. Aaron Hardie also played a brilliant knock of 57 runs off 33 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. In the end skipper Ashton Turner came in and applied some finishing touches in the end.
