Fazalhaq Farooqi runs out Shadab Khan
Shadab Khan was playing a lone warrior's effort after Pakistan suffered a collapse from 170 for 1 to 211 for 6. Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq for 91 runs off 105 balls. After the batter got out Pakistanis needed someone to step up and finish the game for them. Their vice-captain stood up and scored a quick 48 runs off 35 balls. At the last over eager to rotate the strike and began moving forward even before the ball was bowled. Farooqi saw him and did not think twice before taking the bails off at the non-striker's end.
Earlier in the day, openers Rahmannulah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave Afghanistan a dream start. They set up a mammoth 227-run partnership for the first wicket. The 21-year-old batter broke MS Dhoni's record for the highest total by a wicketkeeper-batter against Pakistan in ODIs.
Gurbaz knocked 14 boundaries and three sixes against a world-class attack. He scored 151 runs same as the balls. This was Gurbaz's fifth century in merely 23 ODI innings, as he surpassed Babar Azam to become the third-fastest batter in cricket history to reach the feat.
In the first ODI, Pakistan managed just 201 but a sensational 5-wicket haul from Haris Rauf saw Afghanistan getting bowled out for 59, their second-lowest ODI total. Pakistan sealed the series, 2-0 after winning the 2nd ODI. The final ODI of the series takes place in Colombo on Friday, following which both sides will take part in the Asia Cup. While Pakistan begin its campaign against Nepal before facing arch-rivals India in Group A, Afghanistan is placed alongside Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the other group.
