India beat Australia by 99 runs in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer scored centuries as India posted a massive score of 399 runs at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday. Iyer made a century on his comeback and might have just secured his place in the middle order before the World Cup.

KL Rahul who has been the skipper in the first two ODIs has played brilliant knocks so far in the two ODIs. In the first ODI, he played a crucial knock while chasing 277 runs. In the second ODI, he played a blistering 52-run knock off 38 deliveries.

He hit a massive six of Cameron Green's ball over deep mid-wicket as the ball sailed over the roof. The shot shocked the fans and the commentators as well. It was a 94-meter six. The Men in Blue are in sensational form after their Asia Cup win. The 399 runs are their highest total against the Aussies in ODI cricket.

Australian skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to field first. The decision did not go well for the team. With Indian openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill giving India a good start before Gaikwad was caught behind on Josh Hazelwood's ball.

Shreyas Iyer did not have a good outing on his comeback in the first ODI. In the second ODI, he was off to a flyer. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper looked in great touch in Indore. He along with Gill stitched a partnership of 200-run. He scored 105 runs off 90 balls, hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, the 23-year-old has been in sensational form in 2023. He has scored five hundreds this year with the latest one coming on Sunday afternoon. He scored 104 runs off 97 balls. They set the stage for the middle-order batters to post a high total on the board. It was capitalised fairly by Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul. Both the batters scored half-centuries.

In reply, the five-time World Champions were never in the game as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The tailenders, Sean Abbott and Josh Hazelwood stitched a 50-run partnership at the end, but their fight was ended as they were bowled out at 217 runs.
