Pakistan have announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq made the squad announcement in the press conference in Lahore on Friday. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced their squad in a unique way by posting a video of 2 minutes 34 seconds.

The review of the team's performance in the Asia Cup was on September 21 after Inzamam met PCB chief Zaka Ashraf to finalize the unit for the mega event in India. After this review, former skipper Mohammad Hafeez stepped down from the Techincal Committee.

They already had one of their main pacer, Naseem Shah, ruled out due to the shoulder injury he picked up during the Asia Cup Super 4 game against India. Fast bowler Hasan Ali has been added to Pakistan's ODI World Cup squad in place of him.

Here's the video:

Hasan Ali gets a call for the World Cup

Hasan Ali has been named in the side in place of Naseem Shah. The pacer had last played an ODI in June 2022 and last played for Pakistan in the second Test against New Zealand in Karachi in January this year. He performed brilliantly in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against India. The Asian Giants have also brought in an extra legspinner in Usama Mir, who made his ODI debut earlier this year.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Wasim Jr are Pakistan's pace attack options for the mega event. While wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Haris is among the reserves. Spin-bowling allrounder Mohammad Nawaz also keeps his place in the side, while Faheem Ashraf misses out. Shadab Khan will be the vice-captain after speculations of dropping him after he failed to have an impact in the Asia Cup.

Inzamam said, "Naseem was injured, he was our main bowler and it was unfortunate. Hasnain has an ankle injury and is out injured and so is Ihsanullah. If you say Hasan Ali performing in the LPL, or other performances, he has performed better than most. He is an experienced bowler who has played big mega events for Pakistan and performed well in them. And when Naseem was ruled out, we needed someone who could bowl with the new ball. He bowls well with both old and new ball, and is a team man. His presence lends energy to the team."
