India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has resumed batting practice. This is great news for Indian fans ahead of the team selection for the Asia Cup 2023 and the 2023 ODI World Cup. A video of the left-handed batter batting in a practice match has gone viral on social media platforms.

He met with a life-threatening accident last year in December and is yet to play a competitive match for Team India in 2023. The star player was seen taking part in a match that was played on Independence Day which was organised by the JSW Foundation.

The Indian Cricket Board issued a statement last month giving an update on the recovery of the wicketkeeper-batter and said that he has started practising wicketkeeping and batting in the nets. The statement said, "Pant has made significant progress in his rehabilitation and has commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets. He is currently following a fitness programme designed for him which includes strength, flexibility and running."

On the night before the 77th Independence Day, Pant was seen speaking to a crowd on Tuesday. The Indian cricketer participated in a JSW foundation-sponsored event where he gave a speech and was heard giving some advice.

He said, "Once you keep growing older, you stop loving the game. One of the reasons is that there is a lot of pressure, you want to excel in life and do this and that. But wo enjoyment nahi miss karna hai life mein, (Don’t miss the enjoyment in life)."

Till 2022 Pant, a regular player for India's cricket squad in all three formats of the game was involved in a life-threatening car accident. On December 30, his luxurious car smashed into a divider at Roorkee as he was driving to Dehradun to spend the New Year with his family.

After the collision, Pant's automobile caught fire, but he was able to escape by smashing a window. Pant was involved in that terrible accident and sustained numerous severe injuries for which he later underwent surgery in Mumbai. Pant missed the 2022 World Test Championship final, the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home because of his ailments. Additionally, despite having participated in the exhibition game, he is set to miss the ODI World Cup 2023.
