Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has congratulated India's star pacer Jasprit Bumarh, who recently became a dad. He came up with a 'very sweet' gesture when congratulating the new dad, and shared a gift for Bumrah's newborn baby as the two met at the R Premadasa Stadium before heading back to the team hotel. India and Pakistan met in the Super 4 match on Sunday. The match was interrupted by rain after the Men in Blue were put into bat first by Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Love and peace. Congratulations @Jaspritbumrah93 and family: Shaheen Shah Afridi
In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Twitter, Afridi could be seen greeting Bumrah at the R Premadasa Stadium. Afridi shared the video on his official X handle as well, stating , "Love and peace. Congratulations @Jaspritbumrah93 and family on the birth of your child. Prayers for the entire family. We battle on the field. Off the field we are just your regular humans," Shaheen captioned the video.
In reply, Bumrah praised Shaheen and said, "Beautiful gesture, my family and I are overwhelmed with the love! Best wishes always." Jasprit Bumrah recently welcomed a new addition to his family. On September 4th, 2023, he and his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, celebrated the birth of their first child, a son named Angad.
He shared a message on his son's birth on social media, "Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it."
India got off to a flying start after being invited to bat first. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a beautiful partnership of 121 runs. The former was out cheaply off Shadab Khan's ball after scoring 56 runs off 49 balls, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes. Shubman Gill also fell in the next over of Shaheen Shah Afridi, for 58 runs off 52 balls, hitting 10 fours. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then came together and looked to have stabilised the innings when rain interrupted play. Both were unbeaten till the end of the day's play.
