Rajasthan and Hyderabad are clashing against each other on the third day of the Indian T20 League 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, April 2. Two teams that many experts and fans are already calling the favourites to make the playoffs as they are two of the most balanced sides this season in terms of combinations and options. Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Meanwhile, during the first innings Hyderabad's young sensation Umran Malik wreaked havoc with his brilliant pace as he cleaned up Rajsthan's batter Devdutt Padikkal in the 15th over of the match. The batter didn't even have the time to move his feet and the ball stayed low from a good length and skidded from there, uprooting the off-stump after beating his defence. Umran came up with his trademark punch-the-air celebration but stopped midway.

Umran is living his dream these days as after his brilliant 2021 and 2022 Indian T20 League seasons he was included in the Indian team for limited-over cricket. He also won the emerging player of the season award in 2022. It'd be interesting to see how he will perform in the 16th edition. However, he was a little expensive against Rajasthan as he conceded 32 runs in just 3 overs while taking only 1 wicket.
Brilliant batting performance by Rajasthan
Talking about the first innings, Rajasthan openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal exploded on Hyderabad bowlers as they made full use of the powerplay and crossed the 80-run mark in the powerplay itself. After the terrific start by the openers, skipper Sanju Samson carried the same approach and helped the team to achieve a massive total of 203 runs in 20 overs.
T Natarajan was the only bowler who took 2 wickets while being economical as well as he conceded only 23 runs in 3 overs. Fazalhaq Faaroqi also picked up 2 wickets but conceded 41 runs in his 4 overs quota. However, at one time, it seemed Rajasthan would cross the 250-run mark but the bowlers displayed a good death-bowling performance.
