In the 2nd match of the WPL 2024 on Saturday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated UP Warriorz by a slim margin of two runs, providing Bengaluru with a thrilling game. For the first time, RCB had the chance to perform in front of their home supporters.

Even before the first ball of the match was delivered, the crown started cheering for the home team at the stadium. The Chinnaswamy audience erupted in applause for RCB captain Smriti Mandhana after UPW captain Alyssa Healy spoke to the presenter at the toss and chose to field.

Mandana said, “We already knew that. There's going to be a lot of noise and support. That's how RCB fan base is.”

The India opener seemed visibly overwhelmed and was caught away by the response. The crowd noise at first made it difficult for her to understand the question when it was asked about her expectations for the match, so she had to ask to repeat it.

'I did a lot of homework' -  Sobhana Asha after winning the Player of the Match

After a terrific fifer, Sobhana Asha won the Player of the Match award against the UP Warriorz in the 2nd match of the WPL. It was her performance which helped RCB win their first match of the tournament. After winning the award, Asha was quite determined about her performance and opened up about the homework she had done before coming for the match.

"A lot of struggle and a lot of hard work. I'm not thinking about my 5 wickets, we won our first game at our home ground. Very happy that I contributed to the victory and that too at Chinnaswamy. I knew the situation would be something like this and I visualised. I did a lot of homework. I saw Grace going against the turn, thought if I pull the length back and across, I might get a top edge or bowled. I was ready to get smashed, but I was sure I would get them," Asha said.
