Australia's Annabel Sutherland has been sold at an amount of 2 crore INR to Delhi Capitals. There was an intense fight between the MI and DC, but the bidding war was won by the Capitals seeking the 22-year-old.

Annabel Sutherland sold to DC

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction is ongoing on Saturday in Mumbai. A total of 165 players from five franchises, Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), UP Warriorz (UPW), Gujarat Giants (GG), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go under the hammer during the auction. 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players will be going under the hammer. 

The teams can bag up to 30 players, including 9 spots reserved for overseas players.

The first edition was a massive success and the players and fans are eagerly awaiting the second season to start. Mumbai Indians won the first season beating Delhi Capitals in the final of the inaugural edition. Australia's Annabel Sutherland has been sold at an amount of 2 crore INR to Delhi Capitals. There was an intense fight between the MI and DC in the first round, but the bidding war was won by the Capitals seeking the 22-year-old. 

The first player to be sold in the auction was Phoebe Litchfield from Australia was sold to Gujarat at a whopping total of 1 crore. Danni Wyatt was the second player to be sold in the auction for UPW at the base price of 30 lakh INR. Veda Krishnamurthy the star all-rounder was unsold in the first round of the auction.

Sutherland, the father of Annabel, told the media, "The Indian Cricket Board did wonderful things for women's cricket in bringing the WPL to life. First year was a great success and teams did pretty well given they had a very short lead into the tournament. They will be even better organised this season. To achieve its potential it will be great to see matches scheduled around the country. Fans will love it... and it will inspire more girls to play and love cricket!"

Deandra Dottin did not find any buyer for herself and is set to miss the league for the second year in a row. The second set has ended with Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Nuzhat Parween, and Tammy Beaumont going unsold and a break has been taken.

MI – 90 lakh

RCB – 3.05 crore

UPW – 3.70 crore
