The auction of the second season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is all set to happen on December 9, Saturday in Mumbai. The first edition was a huge success and the players and fans are eagerly awaiting the second season to start. Mumbai Indians won the first season beating Delhi Capitals in the final of the inaugural edition.

A total of 165 players from five franchises, Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), UP Warriorz (UPW), Gujarat Giants (GG), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will go under the hammer during the auction. 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players will be going under the hammer. The teams can sign up to 30 players, including 9 slots reserved for overseas players. Gujarat Giants has the most amount balance left in their purse 5.95 crore INR. The defending champions have the least amount left in their purse with 2.1 crore INR.

Rules for the Women’s Premier League auction?

Each team is allowed to purchase a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 players and the team is allocated a purse value of INR 12 Crore. The teams have the option to acquire seven overseas players, including one from Associate Nation. They can fill up to five overseas players in their Playing XI, with a condition that one must be from the Associate Nation.
