India and Australia are clashing against each other in the third match of the four-match Test series, which is being played in Indore.  Both teams made two changes in their squad. Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green replaced Pat Cummins and David Warner, respectively. Steve Smith is leading the team in the third Test in absence of Cummins, who returned to his home due to serious family health reasons.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first after winning the toss, but the Indian batting lineup flopped on the first day as they were restricted to the score of 109 runs in 33.2 overs. No Indian batter could even cross the 20-run mark, apart from Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill. However, fast bowler and tailender Umesh Yadav played short yet entertaining innings, due to which the Indian team was able to cross the 100-run mark. Umesh scored 17 runs off 13 balls which included 2 brilliant sixes and a four.

A brilliant all-round performance by Umesh Yadav

Umesh continued his brilliance with the bowl as well when he came to bowl on the second day. The speedster easily got rid of the Australian lower order with his fiery spell. Australia were on 153/4 at the end of the first day and got the 47 runs lead over India. They hoped to extend their lead as Cameron Green and Peter Handscomb were looking good in the middle.

However, they couldn’t do that as R Ashwin struck right after the drinks break and it was a procession. Australia lost their last 6 wickets for 11 runs early on Day 2. Umesh was excellent at the other end, and together the pair picked the last six wickets. Australia still gained a commendable lead of 88 runs in the first innings.

The Indian team might look to get at least the 300-run mark in the second innings in order to set a fighting total for them. Indian openers Shubman Gill and Rohit started well and scored 15 runs without losing any wickets at Lunch on Day 2.
