The Bangalore-based franchise are knocked out of the inaugural season of the Women's T20 League. Like the men, the dream of becoming the champion of the women's team was also shattered. The franchise bought team India's star player Smriti Mandhana at the whopping price of INR 3.4 crores and also gave her the responsibility to lead the team but Mandhana failed in both captaining and batting departments.

Bangalore signed many star players in the action in which, Australia's star all-rounder Ellyse Perry was also included as she was bought at a cost of INR 1.7 crore. Bangalore fans were hopeful that the franchise has picked a good team and that they will win the first title. But the team’s performance was disastrous and are out of the tournament now.

Bangalore lost their first five consecutive matches in the tournament. Under the leadership of Mandhana, they managed to win only two out of their 8 matches and have faced defeat in six. They finished at number four in the points table. Meanwhile talking about Mandhana’s individual performance, she did not get more runs from the bat as she was able to score only 149 runs in 8 matches.

Bangalore’s bowling lineup looked strong when they signed Renuka Singh in the mini auction for INR 1.5 crores, but she also failed to do wonders and also went pretty expensive in some matches. Apart from her, explosive Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh also failed to provide anything to the team. They also lost their last match of the tournament by 4 wickets against the Mumbai-based franchise.

Mandhana talked about their journey in the tournament after the match and said, “We have a great team. We have a balanced team. Won't say we don't have a great team because we haven't done well. We had some amazing players. The first four-five games didn't go our way. My personal form wasn't great. We didn't get great starts. Sometimes things don't go as you have planned. We will come back stronger next season.”

Meanwhile, Mumbai, Delhi, and UP have made it to the playoffs. The Delhi-based franchise that topped the points table are directly qualified for the final. On the other hand, there will be an eliminator match between UP and Mumbai out of which the winning team will enter the final to face Delhi.
