I was looking to pick singles: Shubman Gill

Gill who achieved the milestone for the second time in the longest format talked about his knock and said that he felt great to score a hundred in Ahmedabad as this is his Indian T20 League home ground because he plays for the Gujarat-based franchise in the cash-rich league. He also mentioned that he was just trying to be positive while playing shots.

“It feels great to score a hundred here. This is my Indian T20 League home ground and glad to get some runs here. The pitch was pretty good to bat on. Anything happening off the pitch was off the rough area. I was looking to pick singles whenever possible. Honestly, I was still trying to be positive and was kept looking for singles.” Gill said in a post-match interview on Star Sports.

Kohli also took full advantage of the flat Ahmedabad surface and smashed his 28th Test century. The right-handed batter looked in very good touch after a tricky start. Meanwhile, the match is very important for the Indian team as they have to win or draw it in order to qualify for the Test Championship final which will take place in June.
