Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) with a resounding victory in the 49th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In their 6-wicket victory against the guests, MS Dhoni's team outperformed Rohit Sharma's troops with both the bat and the ball. CSK successfully chased down the total with 6 wickets in hand and 14 balls remaining after MI scored 139 runs in the first innings.

Meanwhile, it's interesting to note that during this game, an elderly doppelganger of MS Dhoni was also noticed in the crowd. The fan, who was sporting a CSK shirt, was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media. He has earned the term "MS Dhoni from 2040" among cricket fans. Many fans came up with hilarious responses to the video which are pretty interesting to watch.

A brilliant all-round performance by CSK

Talking about the match, CSK bowlers immediately had control over the MI batting after electing to bowl first. Following the immediate dismissal of Cameron Green in the second over, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma both lost their wickets in the third over. Despite Nehal Wadhera completing his first IPL half-century, MI was only able to score 139 runs thanks in large part to Matheesha Pathirana's 3-wicket haul.

In response, CSK took no time to achieve the target with 14 balls to spare, courtesy of a brilliant start by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Dhoni stated during the post-game awards ceremony that he originally intended to bat first but was forced to make the decision by the team management due to the likelihood of rain interfering with the game. Since the majority of voters preferred to bowl first, MS Dhoni made the choice.

“I was doubtful with the decision at the toss, I wanted to bat first but the think tank thought about the rain, I was slightly outnumbered and so we went with the majority. If there is some kind of confusion then we sit and talk about it. I felt the wicket will slow down and that was the reason behind it, and even if rain comes then the majority of the game would have been done,” Dhoni said.
