India has announced the squad for the remaining two Tests of the four-match Test series and three ODIs to be played against Australia. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, however, has not been named in the Indian squad. Bumrah is still running out of Team India due to injury. Although he is expected to play in the Indian T20 League 2023.

Bumrah could not get clearance regarding fitness from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The 29-year-old is running out of the Indian team for almost 5 months. He played the last match for Team India against Australia in September 2022. However, it is reported that Bumrah has started practising.

Bumrah, who has played 72 ODIs for Team India, has taken 121 wickets in this format. He has taken 70 wickets in 60 T20I matches and 128 wickets in 30 Test matches. Meanwhile, surprisingly, the Indian team management included fast bowler Jaydev Undadkat in the ODI series against Australia.

India needs just one win to qualify for the Test Championship final

Unadkat was also included in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against Australia but was removed to play the Ranji Trophy final against Bengal. Indian batter Shreyas Iyer, who missed the first Test due to injury, made a comeback in the second Test but couldn’t make an impact as he scored only 4 and 12 runs in the first and second innings respectively.

Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja also made his comeback in the first Test after his injury and was named Player of the match. Jadeja injured his knee during India’s Asia Cup 2022 campaign. The star allrounder performed exceptionally well in the second Test as well and produced a career-best figure of 7-42 to help the team to win the match convincingly.

The third match of the series will be played in Indore on March 1 and the fourth match of the series will be played in Ahmedabad on March 9. Team India is now ahead by 2-0 in the four-match Test series and just needs one win in order to qualify for the World Test Championship final in Oval. After the Test series, a three-match ODI series will also be played which will start on March 17.
