Ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup, Australia thrashed South Africa in the T20I series. In the second game of the three-match T20I series, the Kangaroos beat the Proteas by eight wickets. Chasing 165, Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Short led the Aussies to the victory.

After winning the toss, the Australia skipper opted to bowl first. His decision went well with the team, as the home side was restricted to 46 runs after losing four wickets in the powerplay. However, skipper Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs added 51 runs for the fifth wicket. The former scored 49 runs off 38 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Stubbs scored 27 runs off 20 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Despite their efforts, the hosts failed to capitalize on the opportunity and were restricted to 164/8 in 20 overs. For Australia, Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis took three wickets each, while Jason Behrendroff took two wickets.

Mitchell Marsh continues his dream run with the bat

Chasing 165, Australia got off to a good start as both openers added 32 runs for the first wicket. Travis Head managed only 18 runs off 17 balls with the help of four boundaries. After his departure, Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh added 100 runs for the second wicket. Short bashed 66 runs off 30 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes.

On the other hand, Marsh wielded an unbeaten 79 runs off 39 balls with the help of eight fours and six sixes. With these amazing batting performances, the Yellow Brigade comfortably won the game and took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series. With this victory, Australia has roared ahead of the crucial ODI World Cup and has warned the world about their abilities.
