Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has always been in the news whether it is his controversial comments or moment. He was involved in a controversial incident, in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Nepal. Gambhir is currently a member of the Star Sports commentary team.

In the video, it can be seen as he was walking past a group of fans in the stands, some of them began chanting  'Kohli, Kohli', in response he turned around and made an offensive gesture, which was caught on camera. He showed his middle finger while he was walking past them.

Previously in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the southpaw was involved in a verbal argument with Virat Kohli. The argument between Gambhir and Kohli unfolded during an IPL 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in April.

This intense contest had a nail-biting finish, with LSG narrowly clinching victory by just one wicket. Following the game, a video of Gambhir went viral on social media, showing him gesturing for silence to the enthusiastic Bengaluru crowd.

In the return fixture when RCB visited Lucknow, Kohli showed the LSG players with his highly energetic celebrations and intimated the fans as well. Kohli had a battle with Naveen-ul-Haq towards the end of the second inning. They found themselves in a heated exchange again. Gambhir intervened to defuse the situation but ended up in a fiery argument with Kohli and their teammates stepping in to separate the duo.

Speaking on Star Sports, Gambhir recently analyzed Virat Kohli's dismissal in the match against Pakistan. He stated that it was a poor shot selection from the veteran Indian batter and looked a bit casual in his approach. He said, "That was a nothing shot, neither forward, neither back. I think was a bit casual. That is what you get when you play someone like Shaheen Afridi. You do not know whether to go forward or back."
