Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is all set to clash against the surging contender Arnold Allen on Sunday, April 16 in the main event of UFC Kansas City. With three defeats to the current champion Alexander Volkanovski, the last of which was by far the most significant, Holloway (23-7) is unable to capture the UFC featherweight title.

Holloway won the interim featherweight title in 2016 after defeating Anthony Pettis 12-3 in a 145-pound competition. To become the undisputed champion, he defeated Jose Aldo in his subsequent fight. He then successfully defended his title three times until falling to current champion Alexander Volkanovski. Before the fight, "Blessed" outlined the mentality that has enabled him to have such enduring success.

"I'm 0-0 every fight. 0-0 my man, the ups, the downs, it all happens for a reason. But every time I go in there, 0-0. Everybody is like, 'How long did it take you to get over that last fight?' I was like, 'The next day,' You know what I mean? I felt bad for myself on Sunday, on the Monday we left and I was over it. You can't cry over spilled milk."

I'm no longer taking damage in the gym: Max Holloway

In his 26-fight UFC career, Holloway is renowned for possessing one of the best chins in MMA history and has never been officially knocked down. The reason "Blessed" can take so much punishment in bouts was discussed with Daniel Cormier before his Saturday matchup with Arnold Allen. According to Holloway, he doesn't spar as frequently in practice as is customary in the business, which enables him to enter a battle with a fresh head:

"I'm no longer taking damage in the gym. Aldo and were at Chute Box right? You saw how they train? Oh my God they need to get pay-per-view points over there... We take less damage in the gym so if we do take damage it can be in the fight"
