In the 14th game of the ongoing IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns with Punjab Kings at home. Ahead of the game, the Kings were looking to register a hat trick of wins. On the other hand, SRH was looking to avoid its hat trick of losses. Meanwhile, in the game, the home team, the Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The bowlers provided a great start to Hyderabad as Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck on the first ball of the game. In form, Prabhsimran Singh was trapped lbw. Debutant Matthew Short and Jitesh Sharma got out to Marco Jansen. At 22/3, skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran were trying to take the game forward with a partnership of 41 runs. When it looked like the team as go on to post a big total, the PBKS was reduced to 88/9.

At this stage, Dhawan farmed the strike with Mohit Rathee playing only two balls. The former's 99-not-out helped the team reach 143/9 at the end of the innings. For the home team, Mayank Markande took four wickets while Umran Malik and Marco Jansen took two each.

In reply, the team asked Harry Brook to open the innings with Mayank Agarwal. Both were yet to play big innings in the tournament. Not to forget, Brook hasn't been able to justify his price tag so far. As it turned out, the right-hander played a few good shots before being undone by a knuckleball from Arshdeep.

Agarwal was looking good too but was caught at long-on by Curran off Rahul Chahar. At 45/2, the likes of Rahul Tripathi and skipper Aiden Markram put together an unbeaten 100 runs. The former scored 74 off 48 balls including 10 fours and three sixes. On the other hand, Markram scored 37 off 21 balls. Both helped the team reach the target in just 17.1 overs, registering their first win of the tournament by six wickets.
