The five-time champions Mumbai Indians have signed England speedster Chris Jordan for the remainder of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Earlier it was reported that Jofra Archer travelled to Belgium for his elbow injury and now it is expected that Jordan has replaced him.

However, later Archer himself blasted the reports of him getting elbow surgery on social media. Interestingly, MI’s head coach Mark Boucher said that Archer underwent "minor surgery" in Belgium in the middle of this season, but he is now available for selection, according to MI head coach Mark Boucher.

“Yes, he was (in Belgium for surgery). I believe it was a minor surgery. I think he went for a day. As far as I know, Jof is available for selection,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jordan was recently seen in the MI training camp in a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on Twitter from the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. A report from ESPNCricinffor also suggests that Jordan comes in as a replacement but it is still unknown who he has replaced.

Watch the video here:

Jordan has participated in 28 IPL games and has taken 27 wickets. Jordan hasn't had much success in the IPL despite having a solid reputation as an England T20I specialist. In 2016, the year of his IPL debut, he had his best season, with 11 wickets in 9 games. The Mumbai Indians' addition of Jordan to the team will provide their bowling attack the depth and experience they desperately need. The 34-year-old bowls accurate yorkers and has the capacity to bowl at the end of the innings.

Meanwhile, talking about MI's performance in the season so far, they have played 7 matches and suffered 4 losses and are currently standing on the 9th position in the points table. The Rohit Sharma-led side are set to clash against RR on Sunday, April 30 in the 42nd match of the IPL. The Sanju Samson-led team are sitting at the No. 2 spot and it won't be easy for MI to beat them.
