Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan's cautious approach with the bat has received a lot of criticism. Both are reliable anchors who frequently bat late in innings. They are also both prolific and consistent. Nonetheless, Pakistan's poor strike rates, especially in the opening 10 overs, put the middle order under stress and created concerns that they were not maximising their ability to score runs.

Babar and Rizwan have had powerplay strike rates in T20Is of 115.68 and 115.98, respectively, since the beginning of 2020. Pakistan's top three players have consumed approximately three-fourths of all balls faced by the team since the 2021 World Cup, which is the highest percentage among T20I teams.

Why are fans trolling Babar Azam for his conservative approach again?

The Pakistan Cricket Board posted a video of the skipper Babar Azam hitting the ball for six in a power hitting session. The way fans reacted to this has been hilarious since this is not the approach with which Babar Azam is known for batting. Even supporters from Pakistan were caught surprised by this video and reacted in support of their captain as well as trolled him for finally taking the aggressive approach after so much talk about his low strike rate.

Babar still hasn't been able to use this aggressive approach in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League. He still has scored 165 runs in six innings for Peshawar Zalmi with a decent average of approximately 35. He has scored three fifties in the six innings which is a great return and has been doing the goods for the side.

Babar scored a half century in the team’s last match as well. With a 35-run victory in the 23rd game of the Pakistan Super League 2023, Peshawar Zalmi stunned Lahore Qalandars. Peshawar scored 207 runs while batting first thanks to captain Babar Azam's fifty and Saim Ayub's knock of 68 from 36. After that, the bowlers put out outstanding efforts to dismiss the defending champs for just 172 runs in 19.4 overs.
