Former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina is currently in action in the ongoing third season of the Legends League Cricket Masters in Doha. Raina shocked the world when he announced his retirement on August 15, 2020, shortly after former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also took the decision to retire from international cricket.

The 36-year-old left-hander went unsold in the mega auction of the Indian T20 League and since then he has stopped taking part in it. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, March 15, he looked in good touch as he scored 49 runs off 41 deliveries for his team India Maharajas against World Giants which included 2 fours and 3 sixes. However, they lost the match by 3 wickets.

Meanwhile, Raina attended a conference after the match in which a reporter asked, "Everyone wants you back in the Indian T20 League after your performance tonight in Legends League Cricket." And to this, Raina responded hilariously and said, "Main Suresh Raina hoon. Main Shahid Afridi nahi hoon. Retirement le chuka hoon (I'm Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi. I've taken retirement)" and burst into laughter and the reporters were also left in splits.

Brilliant bowling performance by World Giants

Talking about the match, the Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision proved right as they got 2 early breakthroughs but later Manvinder Bisla and Raina steadied the ship and stitched a 60-run stand for the 3rd wicket. However, no other batter could really provide anything to the scoreboard, except Irfan Pathan who showed a couple of powerful six in the end and helped the team to achieve a respectable total of 136 runs.

Brett Lee bowled brilliantly as he picked up 3 wickets and conceded only 18 runs in his 3 overs. Chasing the target, the ‘Universe Boss’, Chris Gayle turned the time back and showed some powerful shots in the beginning and provided a flying start to the chase. The Maharajas’ bowlers bowled brilliantly but there were not enough runs on the scoreboard.
