The Indian Premier League has gotten off to a great start in the first week. There have been high octane clashes and we have witnessed some amazing matches, thus far. The ongoing edition has been scheduled to take place in home and away format.

The games will be played across12 venues. The best in the world have come to India and showcased their talents. Old warhorses like MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan have made their presence felt.

The IPL is in its 16th edition and the tournament has helped many young Indian cricketers come on the big stage and play for India. The tournament has also featured the best overseas players in the world, who have used the IPL to make comebacks into their national sides.

Here's a look at the best XI from week one of the League: 

Top Order: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kyle Mayers

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kyle Mayers have been the best openers so far. Gaikwad has scored 149 runs in two innings, including two half-centuries in the two games that he has played. Kyle Mayers has made 126 runs in two innings and has made an impact in his debut season with his six hitting.

These two should open the batting in our playing XI . Besides, the right-left combination will make it very tough for the bowlers.

Middle Order: Sai Sudharshan, Sanju Samson, Nicholas Pooran and Shardul Thakur

When it comes to the middle order, Sai Sudharsan will be the number 3. The left hander has scored 84 runs in two innings. He made a stellar 62 off 48 balls with four fours and two sixes. Sanju Samson will be at number 4. The Rajasthan captain has made 97 runs from two innings, including a 55 which came against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nicholas Pooran should be at no 5 for obvious reasons. Shardul Thakur made a stellar 68 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and, thus, should take the 6th spot.

Lower Order: MS Dhoni, Mark Wood, Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan

MS Dhoni has played two impactful innings in the IPL so far. He should be assigned the finishing duties and is also the captain of the team.  Mark Wood will take the number eight position. He has picked up 8 wickets including a five-wicket haul.

Arshdeep Singh will be death bowler in the side. When it comes to spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan will be the wrist spinning options. Both of them have picked up five wickets from two games.
