The drama has been started as the third Test match between India and Australia kickstarts at the Holkar Cricket stadium. Things got heated up from the very first over as the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma got saved from getting dismissed two times by the Australian pacer Mitchell Starc.
Rohit got beaten on the very first ball of the match and the wicketkeeper Peter Handscomb caught it behind the stumps. The bowler appealed for the caught behind but the umpire refused. Starc discussed with the skipper Steve Smith and Alex Carey, and they decided not to go for the review. Later it was found out that there was a spike on the ultra edge indicating that the ball touched the edge of the bat. Australia lost the chance to get the wicket on the very first ball of the match.
A couple of deliveries later, there was another appeal. This time for LBW, Rohit pushes forward and is cut into half, as the ball hits the batter’s pads. This time also, the pacer and the skipper decided to go against the review, and later it was seen that the ball was clearly hitting the wickets. Australia lost two chances in the first over. Rohit then hits the boundary on the very next delivery making Australia regret their decision.
But the Indian skipper couldn’t take advantage of his lifeline for so long as he was dismissed by Matthew Kuhnemann in the last ball of the sixth over. Rohit decided to take on the spinner by getting out of the crease but missed the chance and Handscomb took no time to drop the bails.
Shubman Gill gets place in the playing XI ahead of KL Rahul
The Indian innings started to falter after that as the hosts have lost 5 five wickets so far under 50 runs. Shubman Gill got the chance in place of KL Rahul and he was looking in good touch scoring 21 off 18. But Gill also got dismissed by Kuhnemann in the eighth over as he tries to play forward and the ball found the edge of the bat and was caught by Smith at the slip. Pujara also got bowled by Nathan Lyon for just 1 run. Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer also became the victim of the spin duo as the hosts were reduced to 45 for 5. Currently, Virat Kohli is taking the charge along with the young wicketkeeper batter KS Bharat.
