During match 35 of the ongoing 2023-24 Big Bash League (BBL) between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat on Saturday, January 13, Michael Neser took a remarkable diving catch. Neser's exceptional on-field display played a crucial role in dismissing Cooper Conolly, who scored 35 runs off 25 balls, featuring one six and three boundaries.
The wicket occurred in the 16th over of the Scorchers' innings when Xavier Barlett delivered a short ball angling into Conolly. Attempting to pull the delivery, the left-handed batter found himself cramped for room, sending the ball into the sky over mid-on. Michael Neser, positioned at mid-on, ran backwards towards long-on and executed an outstanding dive to secure the catch. This dismissal left the Scorchers at 111/6 in 16 overs, just before Nick Hobson's brief cameo.
After this spectacular catch, the BBL official handle posted the video and wrote; "He's done it again?! Just another classic catch from Michael Neser."

Perth Scorchers won by 35 runs
Brisbane Heat's Michael Neser delivered a clinical bowling performance, limiting Perth Scorchers to 158/6 in their designated 20 overs. Neser claimed two crucial wickets, dismissing skipper Aaron Hardie and opener Sam Whiteman, while Xavier Barlett, Spencer Johnson, Paul Walter, and Matthew Kuhnemann secured one wicket each.
On the batting front for Scorchers, Nick Hobson played a pivotal role, contributing a quickfire 48 off 30 deliveries, featuring four sixes and two boundaries. Laurie Evans also made a valuable contribution with 26 off 22, including four boundaries. In response, Heat made a solid start as they raised 50 runs in just six overs. But once the opener Josh Brown was dismissed the Heat kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Andrew Tye (4 wickets) and Lance Morris (3 wickets) were the stars for the Scorchers side as they shared seven wickets between them.
Brisbane Heat are leading the table with seven wins in nine matches and have secured their spot in the BBL knockout stage. On the other hand, Perth Scorchers, currently third in the points table with five victories in eight games, require a win to confirm their place in the final four.
