Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan impressed everyone after he defended 11 runs off the last over against Mumbai Indians (MI) in match number 63 of IPL 2023 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. The 24-year-old conceded only 5 runs in the 20th over against the batters like Tim David and Cameron Green as LSG defeated MI by 5 runs to jump to the third position in the points table with seven wins from 13 matches.

However, after the match, Mohsin revealed how at one time he had thought of giving up on the game of cricket. After the previous season of IPL, Mohsin suffered a serious shoulder injury and couldn’t play any competitive cricket for a whole year. He wasn’t even fully fit to play the first half of the season and this was the second time he was bowling in IPL 2023.

"It was a very tough time and I had given up hope of playing cricket at one point because I was not able to even lift my hand, forget bowling," Mohsin said at the press conference after the match.

"I was not able to straighten , my physio worked alongside me. It was medical related, it was quite scary, as the doctor had said if I was late by another month they would have had to amputate my hand,” he further added.

Mohsin went on to concede 21 runs in the first two overs, where he also took the wicket of Nehal Wadhera. However, the skipper Krunal Pandya showed his faith in him and gave him to bowl the last over, where Mohsin made sure that MI didn’t get an easy qualification in the playoffs.

"I was just trying to do what I do in practice. That's my strength. I just followed that. Krunal bhai also came and asked me what I was going to do. I told him, 'bhaiya, I will do what I have been doing so far," Mohsin said

"I was just trying to keep myself calm and not look at the scorecard. I just thought that I have to simply bowl six balls. I wasn't looking at the runs, whether they need 10 runs or 11 runs. I was just thinking that I have to bowl six good balls,” he added.
