South Africa won the second ODI against India by 8 wickets at Port Elizabeth. With the win, the home side has ensured that they remain alive in the series with a game to go. The series is levelled at 1-1 with the last ODI set to be the decider. The winner of the final ODI will win the series. The attention of everyone was towards the IPL auction 2024.

Winning the toss, the South African captain Aiden Markram elected to bowl first. His bowlers proved his decision right, as they bowled at good lengths and constantly put pressure on the Indian batters. The wicket was not easy to bat on as there was some early swing, and the wicket offered some seam movement for the pacers.

For the spinners, there was some extra bounce and turn. The Indian batters could not cope with it and rather ended up playing slowly. They threw away their wickets and suffered a huge blow. Only Sai Sudarshan and KL Rahul seemed to apply themselves on the slow wicket. Both of them scored fifty and helped India to score 211 runs on the board.

De Zorzi's maiden ODI ton secures South Africa a win

For SA, Nandre Burger and Beuran Hendricks bowled well against India, as they picked 3 and 2 wickets each. Chaing 212, SA anchored the chase well with no major hiccups. Reeza Hendricks and T de Zorzi were good with the bat. The former scored 52 runs in 81 balls and laid a good platform. After his dismissal, Rassie Van Der Dussen played a good hand and scored 36 runs in 51 balls.

But the star of the show was de Zorzi who scored a hundred in just his 2nd ODI. The youngster was very good in the judgement of the lengths. In 122 balls, de Zorzi scored an unbeaten 119 that included 9 fours and 6 sixes. He never let the Indian bowlers get the better of him. He stole the show with his batting and helped South Africa to win the match by 8 wickets.
