India and Australia have been two of the superpowers in international cricket for quite some time now. This is statement can be proved true as in last one year both these team have met each other on three occasions that too at the finals of major Trophy event. Just three months ago, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India made a remarkable entry into the 2023 ODI World Cup final, undefeated throughout, igniting hopes of breaking the nation's decade-long trophy dry spell.

However, Pat Cummins and his team halted their stride, with Australia clinching an unprecedented sixth title. Fast forward to Sunday, the young Indian squad, also unbeaten, faced Australia in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup final in Benoni, a match seen as a chance for redemption. Yet, the narrative echoed the previous disappointment. Australia set a daunting target of 254 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final against India, powered by a record-breaking partnership between Harjas Singh and Ryan Hicks, alongside Oliver Peake's late contribution.

Despite India's strong batting performance throughout the tournament, they faltered against Australia's bowling attack, with none of their key players making a significant impact. Despite efforts from Adarsh Singh and Murugan Abhishek, India fell short, being bundled out for 174 runs. With this win Australia have won the U/19 World Cup for the fourth time whereas India still remains the most successful side in the competition with five title wins. India's defeat by 79 runs at Willowmoore Park marks their third consecutive loss to Australia in tournament finals.

India entered the final in June as the favored team, having previously defeated Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series a few months prior. However, Travis Head's outstanding innings of 163 in the first innings proved to be the pivotal moment in the final at the Oval. Despite Ajinkya Rahane's resilient knock of 89 runs and a solid partnership of 71 runs with Ravindra Jadeja, India still found themselves facing a significant first-innings deficit, as Australia amassed a total of 496 runs.

In the second innings, Alex Carrey's contribution of 66 runs, along with a crucial 93-run partnership with Mitchell Starc, propelled Australia to set a daunting target of 444 runs. Rahane attempted another comeback alongside Virat Kohli, but India's innings collapsed, with Scott Boland claiming three crucial wickets, followed by Nathan Lyon's four-wicket haul dismantling the lower order, leaving India all out for just 234 runs.

Once again, Travis Head emerged as the hero for Australia, this time with a remarkable innings of 137 runs, setting a new record. Australia successfully chased down the target of 241 runs with seven overs to spare. Despite a strong start from India, with captain Rohit Sharma playing aggressively to score 47 runs off just 31 balls, the team faced a top-order collapse. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then steadied the innings with a slow-paced partnership of 67 runs.

The legendary India batter Kohli contributed 54 runs off 63 balls, while Rahul scored 66 runs off 107 balls, helping India reach a total of 240 runs. Australia also suffered an early setback, losing their first three wickets quickly. However, a historic partnership of 192 runs between Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head revived the visitors' innings, leading them to victory and allowing them to reclaim the World Cup trophy after nine years.
