Mullanpur Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium is likely to host the matches of Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The stadium is being built in Mullanpur of Mohali in Punjab. Back in 2010, the Punjab Cricket Association announced that a stadium would come up in the village of Mullanpur. It was announced that the cost of the stadium with international facilities would be around INR 230 crores.
As things have turned out, after more than 12 years, the stadium has come towards completion and will be ready to host matches in the near future. Reports have been claiming for a long time that Punjab Kings would have their base at the new stadium which is being built on a land of over 41.95 acres. It was established in the year 2021 as per Wikipedia.
The stadium is set to have a total seating capacity of 38000 which is good considering that Northern India has cricket fans who would love to see the game. The finishing touches to the stadium are being given in order to prepare before the commencement of the IPL 2024. The stadium has world-class facilities and a good look which would attract the fans.
Stadiums to have hosted Punjab Kings in past
In the past, many stadiums have hosted Punjab Kings. The most notable of them was Mohali's Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, which has world-class facilities. It hosted the first ODI between India and Australia recently in September. Along with it, Dharamshala stadium in Himachal Pradesh was also the joint host of Punjab Kings for a long time and continues to be.
Dharamshala hosted many matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 including two big matches like India vs NZ and Australia vs NZ. Apart from them, PBKS had some matches in other stadiums like Indore and Cuttack. Though they did not host as many matches as the other teams, they hosted some just before the pandemic period. PBKS has many memories in every stadium they have played as a home team in the IPL.
