Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir recently voiced serious concerns regarding the treatment of his family by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Multan during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match. Amir took to social media to express his shock and criticism over the incident, calling for immediate action against the responsible authority.

In a tweet, Amir condemned the Deputy Commissioner's reported mistreatment of his family, accusing the official of arrogantly claiming ownership of the ground and unjustly ejecting Amir's family during a PSL match. The cricketer deemed such an abuse of power intolerable and urged the relevant authorities to take swift action. He directly appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, seeking her intervention in the matter.

He said, "I was shocked by the unacceptable behaviour of the Deputy Commissioner of Multan, who reportedly mistreated my family, arrogantly claiming ownership of the ground and unjustly ejecting them during a match. This abuse of power is intolerable! Urging authorities for immediate action, @MaryamNSharif, please, I hope you will take action."

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the misuse of authority and the treatment of individuals associated with the sports industry. Amir's public outcry underscores the importance of accountability and fair treatment, particularly in high-profile events like the PSL that draw substantial attention and support across the nation.

Amir's professional journey in the PSL has seen various transitions, including his recent move to the Quetta Gladiators after being released by the Karachi Kings. Despite retiring from international cricket in 2020, Amir remains an active participant in various global leagues. His call for action in response to the mistreatment of his family reflects not only a personal grievance but also a demand for the fair and respectful treatment of individuals associated with cricket.

Mohammad Amir, who faced a five-year ban in 2010 due to his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal against England, returned to represent Pakistan in 2016 before announcing his retirement. With an impressive record of 259 wickets in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is, Amir's influence on the pitch is well-acknowledged. The off-field incident involving his family highlights the challenges and concerns that cricketing personalities may face, emphasising the need for a supportive and respectful environment within the cricketing community.
