Gautam Gambhir leaves fans stunned as he picks his favourite footballer

Gautam Gambhir is always been in the media for his controversial comments or blunt take on the situations. Previously he was in the media because of the heated exchange with former India pacer S Sreesanth in the Eliminator game of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023. They were involved in a verbal spat as the former India skipper hit the bowler for back-to-back boundaries and the pacer said something to the southpaw. But after that, the batter replied calling him a 'fixer' during the game and the umpires had to intervene as well. 

Now the 'This or That' challenge by Sportskeeda, Gambhir was asked about his favourite footballer Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. But the answer he gave was shocking for everyone. He picked none of the greatest footballing stars, instead of them he picked Manchester United's Marcus Rashford. His answer has surprised social media and shows his unconventional choices spark debate among football fans. 

Gambhir has been back to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor. The franchise has seen some best days under his captaincy as the former skipper has led KKR two times to the Indian Premier League (IPL). So the fans can hope his return to the side can bring back their glory days again.

In the video when asked about Ronaldo or Messi, Gambhir stated, "None. Because I think I would go for [Marcus] Rashford." His decision indicates a preference for individual genius above collective accomplishments, defying football fandom's widely recognised structure. Gambhir's surprise pick adds interest to his already controversial and arrogant comments.

The 42-year-old when asked about his and Sreesanth's incident said, "I don't have anything to comment on this I am here for a noble cause don't want to talk about that." Previously while giving an interview to a media house he discussed about his and Virat Kohli verbal spat over the Naveen-ul-Haq incident during an IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
