Whenever a cricketer retires from international cricket, it is usual that he/she comes up with an unexpected and shocking revelation. This revelation may be about anything, be it his teammates, captain or the individuals who get associated with him/her during the cricketing days.
Meanwhile, the veteran Bengal cricketer and former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary announced his retirement recently from all forms of cricket, with his last appearance in the Ranji Trophy 2024 for Bengal.
In the same line of events, Manoj Tiwary came up with some shocking revelations about the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Tiwary also accused the former World Cup-winning skipper of favouritism while picking the players in the team during his captaincy tenure.
Here's what Manoj Tiwary said about MS Dhoni
“I hope to receive his thoughts whenever the chance arises. I’m determined to pose this query. I want to ask Dhoni why I was excluded from the team despite scoring a century, particularly during the Australia tour when none of the key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or Suresh Raina was performing well. At this point, I have nothing to lose,” said Manoj Tiwary to News 18 during an interview.
“After playing 65 first-class matches, my batting average was about 65. During Australia’s tour of India at that time, I scored 130 in a practice match, followed by 93 against England in another practice match. Despite being close, they chose Yuvraj Singh instead. I felt overlooked for a Test cap and disregarded even after receiving the Man of the Match award for my century, I remained ignored for 14 consecutive matches. When a player’s self-confidence is at its highest and someone shatters it, it has the potential to kill that player’s spirit,” he added later.
Notably, many former cricketers and cricketers also spoke about Manoj Tiwary not getting picked for Team India.
