Prasidha Krishna has picked up an injury in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. In the match between Karnataka and Gujarat, the right-arm pacer sustained a quadriceps injury. As a result, Prasidh walked back to the pavilion and did not take part in the match for the rest of the play. It has turned out to be a concern for Karnataka and India for whom the pacer plays.
Before he picked up the injury, Prasidha Krishna bowled well and claimed 2 wickets against Gujarat. The pace bowler was a bit expensive in the match but managed to claim wickets from his end. After bowling 14.5 overs, Krishna expressed his discomfort and started to limp on the field. The physios and support staff helped to get him out of the pitch.
The injury of the pacer has meant that he might not be available for the selections in the Test series against England. For the first 2 Tests, Krishna was not picked. The results of the MRI scans are yet to arrive. However, it is understood that the intensity of quadriceps injuries usually takes more than a month to become fully fit. It has raised questions over Prasidh's participation in the series against England.
Forgettable debut series for Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh is currently getting treated by the physios of Karnataka. But given the fact that he is an Indian player having got the contract, the 27-year-old can get help from India A who are playing against England Lions at the moment. Krishna adds up to the Indian pacers who have been out of the side due to injuries like Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya.
Prasidh did not have a great outing in his maiden Test series. in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, the right-arm pacer was highly expensive and did not claim enough wickets from his end despite getting backing from the skipper. Prasidh managed to pick only 2 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 65, at an economy of 4.64 in the series against SA.
