Ishan Kishan has been one of the most explosive batters for India. The Jharkhand-based cricketer has been out of the time for quite some time now. He took a break citing mental fatigue during the South Africa tour and since then he has not returned to the side. There have been reports that he is currently having a rift between head coach Rahul Dravid and the batter is not happy with the disciplinary things of the coach.

He has been in the news for a while because he chose to skip the Ranji Trophy instead of personal preparation ahead of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Indian Cricket Board announced that Jharkhand will play their final Ranji Trophy Elite Group match against Rajasthan on February 16. However, the wicketkeeper batter missed that match. It wasn't just him bowler Deepak Chahar, who had been out of cricket for a while, who chose to let go of his Ranji Trophy duties.

A few weeks back, reports surfaced that he had been practising alongside Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the Reliance Stadium. Several sources say that the Indian Cricket Board does not like Ishan's attitude and has directed him to return to domestic cricket and join Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy team.

Jay Shah confirms players have to play Ranji Trophy

Previously Secretary Jay Shah stated that the board will not 'tolerate the tantrums', and that young players who are not injured must play red-ball cricket for their state teams. Shah had said, "They have been informed on phone already and I'm going to write letters as well that if your chairman of selectors, your coach and your captain are asking for it then you will have to play red-ball cricket."

"(It applies to) whoever is fit and young - we are not going to tolerate any other tantrums. This message is for all centrally contracted players. Everyone will have to play, otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give him a free hand to let him take his own calls freely."
