There was a massive controversy that erupted after the Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators game in the PSL 2024. Rilee Rossouw, skipper of the Quetta side, got a huge lease of life thanks to the technology.

Shadab Khan, skipper of the Islamabad United side, questioned the technology. Once the issue snowballed into a controversy, questions were being asked about DRS. On Friday, the Hawk-Eye technology wrote an apology to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

On Friday, Peshawar Zalmi got their season off to a start with a win in their third game of the season. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan locked horns as the Peshawar side won the match by 5 runs.

Shadab Khan and Islamabad United were left shocked during their PSL 2024 game against Quetta Gladiators. During the 11th over of the Quetta innings, Rilee Rossouw was given out when trying to sweep Agha Salman. Quetta’s skipper decided to use the DRS and got a huge lease of life.

When the 3rd umpire was doing the rudimentary checks, it was seen the impact wasn’t on the stumps. Even the final bit of the ball’s trajectory to the stumps was shown as missing. This left everyone on the ground surprised and helped Quetta win a tight game.

Hawk Eye has admitted to its error and has written an apology letter to the PCB as first reported by ESPNcricinfo. It is said that the letter was addressed to PCB COO Salman Naseer as well as the entire production unit.

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan was at a loss of words after the massive howler took place. At the end of the game, the 26-year-old said, “I think technology was at fault for this loss. We were shown a different ball as to the review. I bowled 4 overs as a leg spinner, it wasn't turning much. This one showed impact outside off and spinning away further. In a big tournament like this, there shouldn't be such mistakes.”

On Friday, the ninth game of the Pakistan Super League 2024 took place. Multan Sultans saw their unbeaten start being broken by Peshawar Zalmi. Batting first Peshawar scored 179 with Haseebullah Khan scoring 37 and Babar Azam scoring 31. Needing 180 to win, Mohammad Rizwan was out for a duck while Dawid Malan top-scored with 52. Peshawar held their nerves to win the game by 5 runs to win their 1st game of the season.  m
