In the 8th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United lost the match against the Quetta Gladiators. Because of poor batting and bowling, the team lost the match with 10 balls to spare. However, the most interesting part of the match was a review taken by the United team while Rilee Rossouw was batting. Thus, captain Shadab Khan felt that the technology was at fault because of their loss.
Khan said, "I think technology was at fault for this loss. We were shown a different ball as to the review ( the review of Rossouw). I bowled 4 overs as a leg spinner, it wasn’t turning much. This one showed impact outside off and spinning away further. In a big tournament like this, there shouldn’t be such mistakes."
On Agha's ball, Rossouw went on to hit a sweep, however, failed massively and the ball hit the pads. The on-field umpire declared the batter out but Rossouw took a review hoping for a change of results. Much to everyone's surprise, in the ball-tracking system, the ball went on to completely miss the stumps and the decision was changed to not out. That's how the controversy started.
'Not very happy with the way I batted' - Rilee Rossouw disappointed with his batting against Islamabad United
Rilee Rossouw is one of the main reasons behind Quetta Gladiators' win. Although his score was not that big, his presence on the field helped the team win the match. However, the batter wasn't quite satisfied with his batting performance throughout the match and thought that he could have played better.
Rossouw said, "We got a W, that's the most important. Not very happy with the way I batted but what's important is we got that win. I thought it was going to be a high scoring game, difficult to read the pitch. The good thing is we assessed the conditions early while bowling and adjusted our batting accordingly."
