Pakistan Cricket has not been on track after its dismal performance in the ODI World Cup 2023. They failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the mega event, and since then, their management has been changed but nothing changed their fortune as they have won only one game in the last 10 matches they have played across formats. They were clean-swept by Australia and then lost the T20I series against New Zealand as well.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has dropped some valuable comments for the management. He has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to follow the policy of having one skipper across formats to prevent infighting over captaincy. Babar Azam stepped down as captain of all three forms after Pakistan failed to advance past the group stages of the ODI World Cup last year, with the PCB choosing Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood as T20 and Test captains, respectively. But they are yet to name the ODI captain.

The 46-year-old expressed his support for team director Mohammad Hafeez, stating that the captain and team management should be given at least three-year contracts. He previously stated that Mohammad Rizwan should have been the captain for the shortest format of the game.

If you think Muhammad Hafeez is good: Shahid Afridi

Afridi said, "If you think Muhammad Hafeez is good then   him on one series give him proper time and the same should apply to the captain as well he should be there for three years." Afridi added that players in The T20 squad should be given a long run ahead of the World Cup later this year.

"The T20 World Cup is going to be a very tough tournament this year with some very strong teams in the hunt for the title. I also don't think this is the time to make any changes in the format squad. We just need to continue with the same group of players and give them confidence. But yes I would like to see Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub open the batting in T20s."
