Simon Katich drops shocking comments

Australia is currently hosting Pakistan for a three-match Test series. The Men in Green are playing their first Test in their new setup of management since their dismal show in the ODI World Cup 2023. The hosts while batting first scored 487 with Aamer Jamal picking up six wickets. Shan Masood's side scored 132/2 at the end of Day 2. Former Australian batter Simon Katich has dropped a shocking comment about former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Katich believes that opener Abdullah Shafique has the potential to become a better player than Babar. The 24-year-old opener has an average of 50.8 after 14 Test matches and is among the top 20 batters in the Men’s Test batter rankings. Babar is the fourth-ranked batter in the Test rankings and has scored 13,000 runs in the longest format of the game. He praised the aggressive approach against spin and his shot selection against Nathan Lyon.

Babar had a poor show in the ODI World Cup 2023 and his side also failed to qualify for the knockouts. The 30-year-old batter then decided to step down from the leadership responsibilities from all the formats of the game and primarily focus on developing and polishing his batting skills.

He’s a good young player, he’s had a good start to his Test career: Simon Katich

Katich said, "He’s a good young player, he’s had a good start to his Test career. What I like about him the most is that he’s aggressive against spin. We have already seen him today hit Nathan Lyon straight over his head, so I like the look of him. I think he’s going to be a better player than Babar Azam."

David Warner on Day 1 scored a brilliant hundred and silenced all the critics as he was having a verbal spat with former teammate Mitchell Johnson. After the century the former said, "It’s my responsibility to score runs for the team. Right from the start, I was focused on contributing, forming a partnership with Usman Khawaja, and putting pressure on Pakistan."
