India is currently playing Australia in the 5-match T20I series. After winning the first match, the second-string side of the Men in Blue won the second game as well. Suryakumar Yadav's side posted a mammoth total of 235/4 in their 20 overs. Three batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ishan Kishan scored half-centuries. But the limelight was taken away by India's new star Rinku Singh who won the first T20I game in a calm and composed manner.

Rinku has been performing well in the domestic circuit and franchise-based cricket. In the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he performed exceptionally for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and won the games for them. After his good display, the UP-born batter got his first call for the national side in the Ireland tour where he performed brilliantly and showed his skills while finishing the innings.

Rinku again showed why he is one of the best finishers in the world right now. He scored an unbeaten 22 off 14 deliveries in the first T20I in Visakhapatnam and the second game while batting first, he scored 31 runs off just 9 deliveries, smashing 4 fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 344.44.

It reminded me of someone: Suryakumar Yadav

After the match, Surya said, "The boys are not putting too much pressure on me. They are taking onus. I told them to be prepared to bat first here. When I saw Rinku come in to bat in the last game, the composure he showed was brilliant. It reminded me of someone. Everyone knows the answer."

Rinku after the match said, "I bat in this number a lot. So, I am calm knowing this position. I know sometimes I will get 5-6 overs (to bat) or sometimes two overs. That's exactly how I practice as if I'm batting in the last five. That's what VVS sir (V V S Laxman, India's coach for the T20I series) has also told me to train in the nets. I like to play each ball according to where it lands. I try to notice whether it's a slower ball or a fast ball and I respond accordingly."
