Virat Kohli's shocking statement on his decision to leave RCB and enter other franchise in IPL

Virat Kohli has been in sensational form in the current year. He was the highest run-getter in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. The batter scored 765 runs in 11 matches with an average of 95.62. The batter was seen with teary eyes after the loss in the final of the mega event against Australia. He is arguably the best batter of this generation. 

Kohli has won every other trophy in the 15 years of his cricketing career. But there is one trophy that he is still to achieve is the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. The closest the player has come is thrice in the years 2009, 2011, and 2016. All three times his side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was unlucky to win the most prestigious franchise league.

The star cricketer was asked about whether he was interested in joining any other franchise and the answer he said was quite shocking for the RCB fans. He revealed that he wanted to leave the franchise and join some other teams.

In a chat with RCB in 2022 he said, "To be very honest I thought about it. Yes, I won't shy away from it and I have been approached many times as well to come into the auction somehow, put my name there and stuff. And then I thought about it, I was like at the end of the day everyone has X numbers of years that they live and then you die and life moves on."

"There would have been many great people who won trophies but no one addresses you like that. No one addresses you in the room like 'Oh he's an IPL champion or he's a World Cup champion. It's like if you are a good person, people like you, if you're a bad guy, they just stay away from you and eventually that's what life is all about."
