The entire cricketing fraternity is praying for a speedy recovery of Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant who met a life-threatening accident on Friday. Pant was travelling from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee in a Mercedes which hit the divider on the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhal and caught fire. The wicketkeeper managed to escape from the burning car after breaking the window. Following the incident, Indian seamer Arshdeep Singh shared a cryptic Instagram story.

Arshdeep uploaded a video story where he can be seen in a car with a girl who can be seen driving the four-wheeler. The 23-year-old chose the most interesting emojis to describe his condition sitting in the car. The left-arm seamer took a hilarious jibe at the woman’s driving skills and wrote, ‘Never been more scared in my life 💀’ ‘👩+🚗=💀’.

Arshdeep will be seen back in action in the T20I series against Sri Lanka starting on 3rd January. The Punjab pacer was rested from the recent tour of Bangladesh and last played in the third ODI against New Zealand in November. The 23-year-old has also been nominated by the apex cricket body for the ‘emerging player of the year’ award after having a remarkable first year in international cricket.

The left-arm seamer has picked up 33 wickets in 21 T20Is in 2022 with an average of 18.12 and an economy of 8.17 with best bowling figures of 4/37. He was India’s best bowler in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 where he finished as the 10th highest wicket-taker of the tournament picking 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 15.60 and an economy of 7.80.

Rishabh Pant wasn't overspeeding: Haridwar SSP

Meanwhile, putting an end to several rumours, Haridwar SSP Ajay Singh has revealed that Rishabh Pant’s vehicle’s speed was normal and Pant was not under the influence when the accident took place. SSP said that there’s no information of alcohol consumption by the India cricketer in medical reports and he was driving within limits.

“We’ve checked eight to 10 speed cameras from the Uttar Pradesh border to the accident spot in Narsan; the cricketer’s car didn’t cross the speed limit, which is 80 km per hour on that national highway. In the CCTV footage, the car appears to be at a high speed because it was tossed in the air after hitting the divider. Our technical team also inspected the accident site. We didn’t find anything that suggests overspeeding by the cricketer,” said Ajay Singh.

Meanwhile, Twitter was abuzz with reactions on Arshdeep's story. Here are some of the best reactions:
