Arsenal have been one of the finest teams in European football over the years. The 13-time English Premier League champions have not tasted the championship for a long time the closest they came was last season when they finished 2nd in the league. Mikel Arteta's side have been in a build process with a mixture of youngsters and experience in the team. With the likes of Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli they are competing with the best in the league.

They currently are 3rd in the points table with 43 points in 21 games they have played. Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has knocked out Arsenal's prospects of winning the Premier League. Last season, when they faced City, the Gunners came close to breaking their 19-year title drought. Mikel Arteta's team had an eight-point lead over the Cityzens in early 2023 but faltered at the final hurdle, missing out on the trophy by five points. However, Arsenal appeared to be challenging once more after a solid start to the current season.

They were top of the league entering December, but a poor run of results has complicated matters. Arteta's squad has suffered three defeats in five league games, including a 2-0 home loss to West Ham United. They are now third in the league, tied on points with second-place City, who have a game in hand, but are four points behind leaders Liverpool.

I did a little bit of homework: David James

He told Sky Sports, "I did a little bit of homework and since COVID they (City) drop around nine points on average in the run-in. That gives Liverpool about four games on average. Are Liverpool gonna lose four games? Are City gonna drop their average nine points? If so then Liverpool are going to win the title."

"I think its a two-horse race. I know there's a lot of Arsenal supporters who think they're involved in this but personally I don't think that's the case."
