India got out of trouble in the second Test match of the series against Bangladesh to complete a thrilling victory by three wickets on Sunday. Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer rescued India with a magnificent partnership of 74 runs for the eighth wicket to complete a brilliant series victory for KL Rahul's side.

The duo showed everyone exactly how to play on a turning surface, negating the challenge with a fine mix of caution and aggression. The intent clearly surprised Bangladesh, who couldn't find an answer to the duo's counterpunch.

Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz brought Bangladesh back to the game with his brilliant bowling as he got rid of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli to send the Indian innings in a tailspin. Bangladesh started day 4 of the Test series like they finished the third day, removing the nightwatchman Jaydev Undakat inside the first 30 mins. But it was the massive scalp of the ever-so-dangerous Rishabh Pant by Mehidy Hasan, that sent jitters into the Indian dressing room.

'We didn't trust our defenses enough'- R Ashwin

Shreyas scored unbeaten 29 runs while Ashwin was at the crease till the end with a knock of 42 runs. Ashwin also adopted an attacking approach time and again, smashing four boundaries and a six. Prolific allrounder Ashwin made a significant contribution to the game as he also picked up six wickets in the game.

145 never looked like a problematic score but Mehidy and other spinners almost won the game for the hosts. India may have won the series but there are a lot of positives and negatives that can be seen after this series. 

Ashwin was handed the player of the match award for his all-round performance in the second Test match. When asked about the match and his knock in the post-match presentation, he said, “We didn't have much batting left. It was one of those games where we let the game drift whenever we could have shut it off. Shreyas batted beautifully. Sometimes these situations you feel like you have to get ahead of things, they bowled good lines and I felt that we didn't trust our defenses enough.”
