Hardik Pandya explains major changes India would make going into 20-20 World Cup 2024

Star Indian allrounder Hardik Pandya on Wednesday said that the road map for the 20-20 World cup 2024 starts now, adding that going forward a lot of players will be given chances to stake their claim in the side. He will also be seen leading the Indian team in the upcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand, starting this Friday, said the team needs to overcome their World Cup failure.

"Yes, we all know there is disappointment in the World Cup but we are professionals and we need to cope with it. How we cope with our success we co failures and move forward and look forward to getting better rectify our mistakes," Pandya was quoted as saying by MyKhel.

Talking about the new names in the setup for future tournaments, Pandya said, “Yes, the next 20-20 WC is almost two years so we have time (to discover new talent). A lot of cricket will be played and a lot of people will get enough chances. The road map starts now. But it's too fresh right now. We have a lot of time so we will sit down and have conversations on those grounds.”

On the upcoming tour against the Kiwis

Young stars like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Umran Malik, and Sanju Samson have been given a chance. Pandya says this could be an important series for them to make their names into the squad for the upcoming big tournaments.

"They have had ample chances and enough time in international cricket to express themselves and show what they have. Very excited for them, a new bunch of guys, new energy, and excitement.", Pandya said.

India is set to play against the men in black in the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, and R Ashwin as all have been rested because of the workload.

“The main boys are not here but at the same time the talent which the guys who are already here, they have also been playing for one-and-a-half, two years now," he said.
