India beat Australia by 20 runs in the 4th T20I to clinch the 5-match series 3-1. India made four changes on their side with Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Kumar, and Jitesh Sharma, coming in for Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Ishan Kishan. The Men in Blue were invited to bat first after Mathew Wade won the toss at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, Raipur. Both teams are playing with their second-string side with the majority of the players who were part of the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 have been given rest. 

Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave them a good start with the latter being the one who took on the Aussie bowling attack. They stitched a partnership of 50 runs in the powerplay. Jaiswal was the first one to be back in the dugout. Gaikwad completed his 4000 runs in T20s as the batter required 7 runs to achieve this milestone. He also became the fastest Indian to achieve this feat. 

India lost two quick wickets of captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer. They were reduced to 80/3. Rinku Singh again played a vital knock the left-handed batter has established himself as the finisher in white-ball cricket. Gaikwad and Rinku stitched an all-important 48 runs. 

Rinku Singh shines underpressure

Jaiswal and Gaikwad made a solid 50-run partnership but the left-handed opener was the aggressor between the both. He scored 37 runs off 28 balls. Gaikwad also started playing strokes and scored 32 runs. Surya failed as the batter was back scoring just one run and Iyer scored 8 runs. Rinku Singh who has been given the finisher role played a good knock of 46 runs off 29 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes and was the highest run scorer as well. Jitesh Sharma also fired alongside him scoring 35 off 19 balls. With the help of both their firey innings India posted a total of 179/9. 

In response, the Aussie openers Travis Head and Josh Philippe gave them a fiery start. They were scoring more than 10 an over at one point. But Ravi Bishnoi provided the breakthrough dismissing Philippe for 8 runs. Axar Patel gave valuable support picking up wickets at regular intervals. The all-rounder picked 3 wickets and was the best bowler for the Men in Blue. The Kangaroos could only score 154/7 in their 20 overs.
