Indian star Ishan Kishan’s reason to be angry at the Indian team has finally been revealed. The 25-year-old pulled out of the South African Test series and went back home to India. This caused a lot of speculation in the media as well as the cricketing circles.

According to news carried out by Revsportz, Jitesh Sharma is the reason behind Ishan Kishan being unhappy. The two players are fighting for the wicketkeeper slot for the 2024 T20I World Cup.

If Rishabh Pant is fit and picked for the Indian team, the role of the second wicketkeeper will be key. Apart from Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma, even Sanju Samson is a huge contender for the spot.

Why is Ishan Kishan angry?

According to Revsportz, there is a major reason why Ishan Kishan is currently defying the Indian team management. The 25-year-old feels wronged at the way he has been given chances in the national team setup.

As per reports, the decision to bring in Jitesh Sharma for the final two T20I matches vs Australia is the prime cause. Ishan Kishan had scored 110 runs from three games with two half-centuries.

After his final outing in Guwahati, the 25-year-old was overlooked for Jitesh Sharma. Team India didn’t play Ishan Kishan in the two T20I matches that was played in South Africa. Rahul Dravid and Suryakumar Yadav instead went ahead with the man from Vidarbha.

Yet another burning issue is the fact that Ishan Kishan got to play only two games during the ODI World Cup 2023. Ishan Kishan began with a duck against Australia before scoring 47 against Afghanistan.

India made only one further change ahead of the game against New Zealand. Mohammed Shami came into the team to replace Shardul Thakur. With a set team in form, Ishan Kishan didn’t find a place in the team even for the game against the Netherlands.

Rahul Dravid has asked the youngster to go and play the Indian domestic matches for his state. The 25-year-old is practicing with Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the Kiran More Academy.

India’s selectors haven’t yet picked a side for the final three games of the series. Dhruv Jurel was picked over Ishan Kishan for the first two games. KS Bharat has been woeful with the bat and there is a conversation for a change in tactics. But with Ishan Kishan still holding firm one wonders where this stand-off will end.
