Years of hard work pay off the Khan household

After Yashasvi Jaiswal, yet another Mumbai boy Sarfaraz Khan has moved the nation with his story. The 26-year-old began as a young prodigy in the age group level cricket. The youngster was also part of the India under-19 World Cup team in 2016.

Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed went on to play for India. It took Sarfaraz Khan some time to earn his stripes and a call-up to the Indian side.  The batter had quit Mumbai cricket and gone off to UP to play domestic cricket. After one season which bore no fruit, he was back with the domestic giants. From 2019, no batter has scored more runs than the 26-year-old

Despite these feats, he was constantly ignored by the selectors sparking massive debates. The turning point arrived when the England Lions came to India along with the senior squad. The young batter scored an amazing century to put his name on the and that duly arrived in Vizag.

The injury to KL Rahul meant that Sarfaraz Khan was given a call to the Indian team. When he strode out to bat, Khan showed the world why there were calls to let him play. His 62 runs from 66 balls were filled with amazing shots and authority-filled punches. His innings may have been cut short due to Jadeja’s miscommunication but the world witnessed his talents. Former England skipper Alastair Cook was in full praise for Sarfaraz Khan and one knows this is just the start. The young man has a long way to go and a lot of runs to score.
