Justin Langer drops shocking comments about IPL ahead of 2024 season

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been one of the biggest cricketing events over the years. The toughest T20 league in the world has seen young players displaying their talents on the biggest stage of cricket and turning heroes for their respective franchises. The IPL mini-auction for the 2024 season was held in Dubai for the first time and there was a live audience present to witness the franchise had a good bidding war acquiring their players. 

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has been one of the finest franchises since its inclusion in the IPL. They have appointed former Australia head coach, Justin Langer as their new chief. The former opener has compared the Indian Premier League with the Olympics. He feels IPL is like the Olympic Games and every match is a spectacle.

Langer helped Australia to win their first T20 World Cup title in 2021. Langer was also successful with Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. Justin said that he spoke to Ricky Ponting and Tom Moody about the richest franchise league in the world.

Justin Langer said in a video uploaded by the LSG, "I had a long conversation with Ricky Ponting, who told me about his experience of working with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Tom Moody is my good friend and he had a lot to say about Sunrisers Hyderabad. IPL is big and is like the Olympic Games. Every game is a spectacle. It is followed by millions worldwide. I am excited about joining the tournament."

With Langer's success as a coach, the franchise would like to win their first title in the upcoming season. They have added Devdutt Padikkal to their side the Karnataka-born opener has a great record in his small IPL stint. Langer was forced to leave the Australian side despite having success as the players revolted against him because of his hard coaching approach.
