The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2024 is just a day away, scheduled on December 19, in Dubai. Ahead of the auction, all 10 teams have prepared their strategies to bid for the players and acquire their services to bolster their squad. This is the first time that the auction will take place outside the country and live audience present to witness their star players going under the hammer.
Ahead of the auction team many experts and former players have given their opinions on the players who will get the highest bid in the auction. Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the recent one to share his prediction about the auction. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder took to social media to make various predictions about the auction.
Ashwin believes that the two Australian cricketers, skipper Pat Cummins and pacer Mitchell Starc will be getting the highest bid in the auction. The two World Cup winners have been in exceptional form in the white ball format with the former being part of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who were the finalists in 2021. Starc will also be returning to the toughest T20 league of the world after 10 years.
Ashwin predicts the price list of players
Through his unique idea, of prediction while showing different shots for the bids the players will get, all-rounder Shahrukh Khan, who was released by Punjab Kings, to fetch a price between INR 10 and 14 crores in a proper bidding war. For Rachin Ravindra, Ashwin showed that he expects the bids to be around INR 4 and 7 crores while in the case of pacer Harshal Patel, he showed a range of INR 7 to 10 crores in the video. Gerald Coetzee was put in the same bracket as Harshal while Ashwin believes Rovman Powell will get INR 4 to 7 crores.
Ashwin predicted Travis Head who he believes will not fetch a price higher than INR 4 crores. A higher amount was predicted for veteran India fast bowler Umesh Yadav who Ashwin expects to go for somewhere between INR 4 and 7 crores.
